Coin box light

The little coin box down beside the steering column, is difficult to see into at night so I decided to add a little illumination with a green led.

First off I took out the retaining screws and dropped the drivers footwell panel just to allow room to drill the 4.5 mm hole without fear of damaging anything behind it (especially being as near to the ignition switch and associated wiring as it is).

I then fed the led wires through and pushed the led into its holder that was already held in place with a drop of glue from the glue gun.

I then took out the lighting switch, with a multi-meter found the sidelight wire and fixed (bodged) the red led wire to it, then just earthed the led’s black wire to the strut to the right of the dash! Then re-install the footwell cover panel.

These leds are obtainable from Halfords , if I remember correctly they were £4 for 5 or thereabouts, I got them in green to go with the rest of the interior lighting, they come in red too all pre-wired. You can get also get them from places like Maplins and they were something like 60p for 100!, then you need holders too, at a similar price, or a couple of drops of glue from that glue gun.

Drivers Sun Visor

I saw a pair of sunvisors on Ebay Germany, bid on them, and won them when they finally arrived, they needed a good clean (thanks Mr Muscle).
Being from a left hand drive vehicle the mirror/vanity light is in the right hand visor.
I then set about wiring them in, all I did was extend the wiring from the passengers side across to the drivers side, but make sure you insulate the connections very well, as they are close to the bare metal roof, I also stuck gaffer tape to the inside of the roof, where the connectors are, because the one near the drivers door is very close to the roof.
