About the Cars

It all began with the Ford Granada Mk1 in 1972. It was also called the Ford Consul, in other parts of the world. It was built big, with special soft suspension for long trips. Ford described it as the car for you, who want good space, but can't let go of the sports car dreams.

1978. It was the same car, but with new look, new interior, and now available with 2.8 L 151 HP V6 engine.
1982. The design was changed, so the front corners now went around the corner, and the rear lights were now rippled.

1985 saw the arrival of the Mk3 Granada, with a totally different body style to the outgoing Mk2, a 5 door hatch back. An estate model was introduced in 1992 and 1990 saw the saloon version, this model had a couple of face-lifts to the interior and lights etc.The arrival of the Mk3 also saw the introduction of the mighty Cosworth powered 2.9L 24v V6 Engine. The Mk3 continued production until 1995.

1995 saw the arrival of the 95 Scorpio a very controversial North American designed car and much more technologically advanced than the mk3 this was fords ultimate flag ship model but was only in production until 1998.

.........and this was the end of the big luxury ford in the UK.
